Beth Thomas holds a TALCB Certified General Appraiser License #1381028. Currently appraising State of Texas Lands and Veterans Land Board collateralized land in the Appraisal Division of The Texas General Land Office (GLO). Her role includes valuation of a wide range of public and special use real estate assets. These valuations help to support The GLO’s decision-making for real estate holdings, disposition, and lending operations. Prior to joining The GLO, she served over a decade in the public university sector specializing in real estate contracts management, compliance, statistics analysis, and extensive reports preparation for state and national public use. Prior to public service, she served as the broker of record in the private sector specializing in real estate brokerage operations in north, east, south and central Texas.In 2005 she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from LeTourneau University and in 2007 earned the Master’s degree in Real Estate from The Texas A&M University Mays Business School. Ms. Thomas also graduated in 2011 from The Texas A&M University’s Leadership Institute (LI) which trains public service employees to lead processes and manage people with competency and care. She also earned a certificate from the university's Faculty Teaching Academy (FTA), which taught her that we are all teachers and learning is a life-long gift. She has served on The Texas Real Estate Commission’s (TREC) 2009 Broker Responsibility Committee, and was 2009 to 2011 Boy Scout troop 317’s Merit Badge Records Coordinator. According to the Boy Scout's Arrowmoon District Council, during her tenure the Scout's in Troop 317 realized a more than 25% increase in the number of completed scouting badges, which are the foundation to achieving Scouting's coveted Eagle Scout ranking. Hobbies include any activity with family; mentoring youth and advocating for the elderly; studying leadership---think Robert Gates, the only US Secretary of Defense to serve both a Republican and Democrat president - amazing; or, Phil Knight, co-founder of Nike; and Organizational Behavior Researchers, Chip and Dan Heath, authors of "Switch, How to Change When Change is Hard" and "Decisive;" then there's Brene' Brown's breathtaking book, "Daring Greatly." Recently discovering that her local library streams "The Great Courses" videos, she's blissfully working through the many free lecture series. Life with her husband, their five children and their partners, and the best grandchildren ever, is GRAND!
