Work to recruit, train, and retain volunteers for Homeless Connections with the goal of creating a culture of volunteers who are engaged and invested in supporting and sharing our mission to end homelessness in the community.Also work alongside Homeless Connections' Community Relations Director in planning and executing the organization's fundraising events.

As Copper Rock's Gallery coordinator, I find and contact artists who are interested in exhibiting their art. I communicate with the artists in planning, organizing, and installing their exhibits.

Work as part of a team developing and executing the museum's educational programs to engage, educate and entertain students, teachers, families, scouts and the public as a whole. Program highlights and leadership roles include Reminiscence Circles, a partnership program with Brewster Village for people with early- to mid-stage memory loss; School Days, a program involving over 400 2nd-5th graders per day; and scout clinics for Tigers, Wolves, Bears and Webelos. Also developed and executed programs for student groups from 2nd grade through graduate school, and the development of artwork for students to be used in conjunction with a special exhibit, Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion.

As an assistant manager, I was responsible for overseeing the daily tasks of the Visitor Experience Staff. I took initiative and reinstated monthly staff meetings. Also participated in the interview process for new employees and trained those hired for Visitor Experience positions. Designed and led an educational activity for an after-hours school program. For the activity, students had to work together to answer questions that let them tour the museum, while encouraging them to use their imaginations in learning about geography, science, art, and physical health. Day-to-day activities included scheduling shifts for employees, scheduling parties and field trips, providing orientations for school groups visiting the museum, handling admissions, and preparing the day’s closing cash deposit.

The Hardy Gallery is a non-profit arts organization with the mission of promoting and fostering local art. It is dedicated to addressing the needs of local artists, enriching the creativity of local youth, and to educating the public while promoting the visual arts and artists of the Door County peninsula. From May until August of 2010, I became a part of the Hardy’s organization as an intern, gaining experience in the fields of Arts Management and Gallery/Museum Practices. Leadership roles and personal projects included designing the gallery space for two art exhibitions, writing a grant for the Hardy’s Art Camp Program, planning and leading activities for the Art Camp Program, fundraising through the gallery’s Community Mosaic Project, volunteer training, and maintaining the membership database.
