Ghana

I was involved in three projects whilst working in Ghana. Safe Choices' increases sexual health knowledge of young girls in the hope that individuals are more likely to continue education. Responsibilities included organizing and running sensitization sessions along with meeting with globally recognized NGOs to discuss funding possible funding methods and collaborative relationships. Secondly the ‘Farming for Futures’ project aims to reduce the levels of boys working on farms and increase educational attendance through creating a supportive agricultural cooperative network within the community. Responsibilities included; carrying out an empirical evaluation using quantitative and qualitative methods on the usefulness of the cooperative; and organizing a three-day compost training session for the cooperative farmers delivered by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

University Of Southampton

This role is principally tailored towards encouraging students to participate more actively with social, environmental and economic sustainability at the University of Southampton and in the wider community. Much of this role is dependent upon the ability to self-motivate in terms of generating innovative ideas and work ethic. I regularly participate in meetings involving managerial members of University staff which involves articulating individual ideas through self-expression and presentations. I can therefore network efficiently. To achieve the best outcome, I must communicate effectively with students to stimulate and promote sustainability as a concept, whilst also listening to the 'student voice' in order to know the best method of engagement. Key Achievements:• Supporting, organising and preparing events for this years students. • Running multiple sustainability workshops for the new Southampton Student Union Saabatical team and Pre-Sessional Students.• Development a new online e-learning tool for students and staff. • Acting as the student voice within the Business Ethics and Environment Students (BEES) committee.• Creation of sustainability eBook for students across the University of Southampton.• Communication and marketing through multiple blogs promoting sustainability.
