The course content in my psychology degree sparked an interest in understanding how the brain functions. As a volunteer at Headway, I gained first hand experience of what life is like with a brain injury. I interacted with the service users and assisted with games and art sessions to encourage their social rehabilitation.

Whilst in my first year of University, I applied for the ‘Students in Classrooms Mentoring Scheme’. I was placed in a secondary school once a week and carried out pastoral intervention sessions with a caseload of students. I prepared the resources for the sessions depending on the students needs and dealt with areas such as academic progress, mental health, bullying, revision techniques, social skills and communication.
