I am a Technology Manager at the MTC for the Laser Processing team. My current role involves growing and leading the laser team, now 30 engineers, developing solutions to industry challenges within the manufacturing sector, with the ultimate aim to improve the uptake and adoption of laser technology in the UK. I both manage and propose new projects, as well as set the technical strategy for the group. Previously, I have had 4 years of experience in the post-processing for additive technology area, researching innovative ways to reduce the surface finish of metal additively manufactured parts for industries such as aerospace, medical and power. I have also had varied project management experience - from small scale customer projects to leading large million pound innovate (government) funded projects with large consortiums.I am passionate about engineering and especially innovative solutions for the high value manufacturing sector. I like to be able to make an impact with my work as well as developing myself and others. I enjoy working in teams, and am a driven, organised and motivated person both in and out of work. I am especially passionate about both getting women into engineering and giving girls more confidence to try new things. I promote this at work through our women in engineering society, as well as volunteering outside of work at a local guides club.
