After completing three A Levels at South Wilts Grammar School Sixth Form, I spent a year working in various customer-focused roles, to gain experience in the working world, while earning an income.In September 2013, I achieved a place on a Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship with The Ministry of Defence (MOD), where after 3 years of education, hands-on experience, exams and assessments, I earned a 'NVQ Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing and Engineering' in September 2016. During my time there, I achieved 'Apprentice of The Year (2nd Year)' and 'Apprentice of the Year (3rd Year)' from the education provider, QinetiQ and also, 'Overall Apprentice of the Year' with my employer, MOD. After completing the Apprenticeship, I was given a job in the Machining Section, where I worked on manual lathes and milling machines until May 2017.In late May 2017, I made the choice to pursue a career down a slightly different Engineering route. I applied and got accepted to work as a Medical Engineering Technician in the NHS, at my local hospital. There, I manufacture and design bespoke specialist seating and rehabilitation aids to wheelchair users, to increase their quality of life. I have experience with sheet plastic (both PVC and ABS), Delrin bar, mild steel in box section, tubing and sheet form, aluminium tubing and sheet, plywood and foam (plastazote and PU foam). I am competent in the use of milling machines, pillar drills, lathes, chop saws, foam carve routers, table saws, tube benders, sand blasting machines and powder coating. In September 2019, I undertook and completed a City & Guilds Level 2 in MIG Welding, which gave me the qualification to support my experience in welding already. Along with the physical, hands-on aspects of my job, I have gained experience in helping out with the Quality Management system, keeping logs up-to-date, carrying out risk assessments and researching and creating Safe Working Practices for all the equipment in the workshop.Outside of work, I have a real passion for the creative aspects in life, especially creative writing, creative design and video editing and these passions and skills of mine have helped my career in areas when that creative flare is needed.
