I am the acting instructional design lead for our government client. I lead the day-to-day work including managing schedules, deliverables, and action plans for execution. I currently supervise a team including ISDs, technical writers and copy editors. I determine the appropriate vehicles and delivery channels to achieve desired performance (instructor-led, computer-based training courses, virtual web-based programs, blended solutions, job aids, etc.). I evaluate materials throughout the development process for instructional alignment and appropriate styles, standards, and specifications such as Section 508 and Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM). I design and develop curriculum & total course materials for participants in concert with instructional designers, technical writers, and domain subject matter experts. I convert written materials and/or training requirements into interactive courseware, including writing plans and storyboards. I develop the educational multimedia, using industry and proprietary HTML web development tools. I conduct briefings, software demonstrations, and technical meetings for customers and potential customers.

I worked with Raytheon’s client, Astellas, to design and develop web-based asynchronous SCORM conformant Level I/II training. For the Raytheon corporate account, I have developed web-based courses in Raytheon’s development tool and micro-learning (iPDFs, instructional/illustrated videos, and Mobius learning solutions) for export/import compliance training.

I worked with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), graphic designers, and other instructional designers to create 508 and SCORM compliant web-based learning solutions for US Customs and Border Patrol. As the instructional designer, I provided all instructional support from developing sound learning objectives, to storyboarding, to creating online asynchronous courses in DRC/Engility’s web development tool. I used various learning technologies to deliver training that engaged learners beyond just comprehension. I developed relationships with CBP SME’s and our graphic designers to create interactive learning experiences. I also created instructional videos for CBP’s learning management system.

I worked with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create web-based and instructor-led training on Kimray products, practices, and safety procedures as well as assist SMEs in the development of their own training materials. I acted as the primary administrator for our learning management system, Desire2Learn (D2L), and supported OCU’s distance education and classroom technology incentives. I provided technical training on Microsoft Office and Adobe products to faculty and staff.

I created online asynchronous courses, converted face-to-face training to an online asynchronous course format, managed courses in learning management system, created face to face courses, and created training manuals for courses, including instructor and student manuals. I designed learning materials in Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, and Photoshop that would be useful for the learner. I created assessments that evaluated the learner’s knowledge and abilities in the subject matter and I produced interactive learning opportunities in Captivate and other online course development tools to keep the learner engaged in the learning.
