As a PACU RN, I provide constant care to patients, whether a patient comes out sedated with an oral/nasal airway or alert and talking, immediately following surgery, I utilize multi-modal treatment in order to improve the health of the patient and provide optimal comfort. I collaborate with other health care providers, patients, and their families in order to establish a care plan that everyone agrees on. Education is especially important in PACU; therefore, patients and their families are educated in depth on their discharge instructions so that they can understand their care following surgery.

As a Cardiovascular Stepdown nurse, I learned to read EKG strips and apply the appropriate care for the patient’s heart rhythm. Most patients that come into our unit are NSTEMI and STEMI patients that are either going into or coming out of the Cath lab. Before entering into the Cath lab we initiate and monitor patients on a Heparin drip. Following their Cath lab procedure, patients return onto the unit with arterial and venous sheaths. As a cardiovascular unit nurse we are responsible for following MD orders and removing the sheaths along with monitoring their vital signs, administering IV fluid, and monitoring for any complications. I also communicate with physicians to deliver important information in order to progress the patient’s care while keeping the patient informed.

As a Sales Associate, I maintained weekly knowledge of the sales that were going on. I also provided friendly customer service in order to help customers select clothes they liked. While working their, I also developed better communication skills since I had to sell discount cards while being a cashier.
