I provided real-time charting for physicians by shadowing them throughout their shifts. I gained clinical experience that has helped me as a person and as a professional. I recorded the patient's history and chief complaints. I transcribed physical exams and recorded diagnostic test results. I also prepared plans for follow up care and prepared discharge instructions. I was required to be proficient at McKesson charting software.I completed the rigorous four day training known as I AM SCRIBE and then the 60-100 hours of the residency portion which consisted of 4-6 training shifts with a Certified Trainer Scribe, outside mastery of the detailed Scribe manual, daily quiz preparation and ongoing evaluation, and fast-paced and intense training that required speed and strong multi-tasking abilities.
