About Bethany Crow

Chemistry PhD candidate at the University of Birmingham. Under the supervision of polymer chemist Prof. Rachel O'Reilly. Research interests involve analytical techniques, oligonucleotide chemistries, peptide chemistries, and small molecule synthesis (with pharmaceutical applications).Throughout my PhD, industrial placement (Croda Pharma) and Masters's degree, I have demonstrated high proficiency in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometry (LCMS), being the assigned superuser within my joint research group (50+ members).I am an advocate for equality, diversity and mental well-being - volunteering in multiple EDI/Mental Health-based roles within the University of Birmingham: EDI Representative within the RSLC (School of Chemistry), Postgraduate Representative within the EDI Committee (School of Chemistry) and EDI & Mental Health Champion within the Dove-O'Reilly joint research groups. (Please see my Experience and Volunteering sections for more details). In my spare time, I practise aerial arts, dancing and yoga. I also redesign and repurpose garments.
