Howdy! My name is Bethany Hansen and I am a mechanical engineering graduate student from Denver, Colorado attending Texas A&M University. A few of the organizations I have been involved with include Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and Texas A&M's Sounding Rocketry Team (SRT). During the year of 2021, I participated in a Space Systems Co-Op for Northrop Grumman in Chandler, Arizona and a Starship Launch Co-Op for SpaceX in Brownsville, TX. During the summer of 2022, I participated in a Propulsion Internship for SpaceX in McGregor, TX. Last summer, I returned to Brownsville to work as a Starship Operations Intern. This summer and fall, I am working as a Graduate Engineer on the Launch Control Team in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Starship Operations InternSpacex May 2023 - Aug 2023Brownsville, Texas, United StatesI worked as a ground controller for starship testing. Also, I was in charge of the activation of one of the fluid systems. I wrote the automation and created the GUI for the system. In addition, I updated the system’s schematics as the activation progressed. -

Mechanical Engineering InternNorthrop Grumman Jan 2021 - Jul 2021Chandler, Arizona, United StatesI worked with the Dynamic Environments Team and the Instrumentation & Testing Team. I utilized Python, LaTeX, Excel, MATLAB, and FEMAP to update and re-evaluate acoustic, vibration, and shock testing analysis for components on various launch vehicles including Antares, Minotaur IV, Pegasus, and others. Also, I performed and assisted in the performance of multiple tests on components such as clamp bands, orbital standard initiators, a hot gas generator, stage 1 and stage 2 separation springs, and fairing composite samples. I used Siemens NX to create models, assemblies, and drawings of different components that would be used for testing. -
