Sadly, drinking copious amounts of tea and befriending the ever-present delivery drivers doesn’t pay the bills so in my spare time I am an experienced Learning and Development and Operational Delivery professional, who has had a varied career within the Civil Service and as a freelance assessor and consultant. Progressing quickly in seniority in the Civil Service, I was a People Manager and led on several projects, including redevelopment of the graduate Fast Stream Curriculum and Induction programme. I also worked with City & Guilds and the Chartered Management Institute to develop a suite of 19 new qualifications available to 280,000+ operational delivery professionals, completed a management development programme which led to a double promotion and I managed a large telephony team, significantly improving their performance. After a relocation and popping out two kiddiwinks, I am now an Independent End Point Assessor, assessing apprentices against various apprenticeship standards whilst also being an Examiner Team Leader for Management and Administration T Levels. I have made sure that CPD has remained a priority whilst raising my two (now primary school aged) children who constantly challenge me, particularly with their criticisms of my average parenting skills and my inability to ever fully empty the wash basket. I have a passion for early talent; in every role throughout my career I have had capability and development of others as a priority and I role model that approach. I am dedicated and I deliver results while maintaining organisational values and ethics, working within the rules but as flexibly and effectively as possible. I seek out ways to continually improve at organisation level, team level and personally – if something can be done in a simpler/more cost-effective way then I want to find out how, innate laziness helps with this. I enjoy responsibility and am an objective, evidence-based decision maker. I love working collaboratively, I am very much a people person with an inclusive approach but I can also work autonomously very competently and happily. Working from home is always preferable - see aforementioned tea drinking habit and the fact that it's also nice to have the washer on while I work, one less thing to think about later. Maybe one day I'll finish all of the washing. I am looking for freelance opportunities that will give me challenge and stretch, something to get stuck into and hyperfocus on, that I can also add value to and not get bored :)
