I gained infield experience in the commercial nuclear industry at the FirstEnergy Beaver Valley Power Station through shadowing job assignments with the Radiation Protection Department, Non-licensed Operators, Licensed Operators, I&C, Electrical Department, Mechanical Maintenance, Chemistry and the Training Department. At Beaver Valley I was able to apply the lessons learned from my coursework at Lakeland and onsite training to successfully and safely: shadow jobs, participate in pre-job briefs, done PPE gear, follow ALARA practices, attend managerial and shift meetings, and observe tours.For the span of the internship my observations, opinions and perspectives were kept in a daily log in order for my program director to track and access my capabilities to learn and adapt in the real world environment of the nuclear industry.

Facilitate day programs, overnights and residential camps. Research and present nature appreciation and conservation-based education programs; assist with wildlife research and habitat restoration; guide outdoor skills development; maintain trails and education facilities.

My primary duty was to spread awareness about the courses available to improve and enhance the bond between owners and animals. I led group and one-on-one sessions for customers.As a trainer I customized classes to fit clients’ goals for clients of all ages, backgrounds and understandings. I accomplished this by providing outlines of class topics; calling to check-in between classes for questions, concerns and progress; and provided detailed demonstrations of the steps necessary to help achieve goals.My responsibilities included tracking customer accounts and course progress, and I also made weekly calls to remind students of upcoming or missed classes. I managed class schedules to provide optimum customer satisfaction. I kept my clients updated on new resources available to them through PetSmart and the local community; and stayed abreast of the latest training technique breakthroughs.In addition to my duties as a trainer I also assisted throughout the store through excellent and speedy customer service, acting as a cashier, answering inquiries over the phone and in person, and by helping in inventory and stocking.

I updated the client database, trained new employees, and handled paperwork.With the animals I maintained a calm and happy atmosphere, kept unwanted behaviors in check and monitored pack behaviors. I administered medicine, food and grooming services to animals. Part of my duties were to ensure the environment was always safe and hygienic for the animals.
