As the Mental Wellness Team Lead, I managed a team working collaboratively with First Nations in Alberta to support the planning and delivery of responsive and culturally appropriate mental health services including health promotion, substance use treatment, cultural support, crisis response and building connections with partners to support a more seamless continuum of care. In my first year with FNIHB, as the Transformation Team Lead, I established and managed a team that offers strategic support to First Nations health organizations in Alberta interested in taking greater control of their health programs and services. I developed a strategic and operational plan to begin implementing the vision and mandate for the team to partner with stakeholders to develop innovative and culturally appropriate service delivery models, community health plans and capacity building tools. My focus was always on building relationships that are based on respect, transparency and collaboration.
