Clinical Experience | Educator | EmpatheticI will graduate in May 2021 from the Indiana University Genetic Counseling Graduate Program. My training thus far has involved a rich clinical experience including rotations in prenatal, metabolism, neurogenetics, pediatrics, and oncology. Prior to graduation I will also complete rotations in cardiovascular genetics. Upon graduation I will have robust experience providing full genetic counseling sessions in these settings. I have a passion for patient care and strive to empower patients through education and advocate for their needs.Adaptable | Flexible | Team-Oriented My clinical experience has prepared me for a variety of clinic settings and formats. I have experience counseling both in person and virtually and can adapt well to either format. In my rotations, working with other counselors and physicians has been rewarding and I enjoy working as a team. I greatly value the expertise and advice of my supervisors. Additionally, I value having ownership over my work and enjoy working independently at times. I excel in positions in which I can work in a collaborative environment while also taking on independent projects.Research | Collaboration | CommunicationMy research interests include diversity, equity, and inclusion within the field of genetic counseling. The focus of my graduate manuscript is understanding implicit racial bias among genetic counseling students. I am interested in how genetic counseling programs train students to be culturally humble and feel comfortable with patients of all walks of life. To coordinate this research project, I have collaborated with leadership in my own training program, experts in diversity and graduate education, and programing experts. From this experience I continue to build strong professional interpersonal skills. I am interested in continuing work regarding further research and other diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within the genetic counseling
