Its aims to foster and expand knowledge, understanding, and discoveries that can have important implications for the ways we live and work. Often times, however, the benefits of research are not realized in everyday practice.The cause of this disconnect is a by-product of contemporary approaches to research and the institutionalized methods of communicating research findings. Often the outcomes desired by those who fund scientific research are defined in ways that limits its practical implications. Given the importance of ensuring the reliability and validity of incremental advances in theory and practice, science must incorporate advances in research methodology. In many cases this integration has made the integration of discoveries into practice more challenging. As a result of advances in statistical methods, consumption of research outputs are often limited to the few who are academically trained.​Now, more than ever, contemporary research discoveries needs to be designed for and translated into products that that can be consumed by the stakeholders that need it most.
