I worked in patient services as a receptionist and bookings team member. My role was public facing, helping service users by organising their appointments in the London branch of MIP. I liaised with patients, radiographers, radiologists, referring consultants and their admin teams with an aim of supplying first-rate customer service to all our contacts. I have received commendation for my professional and friendly demeanour and efforts to improve our team's efficiency. In addition, my experience working with MRI scanners in the past has meant I can put patients at ease by explaining the imaging process in an accessible manner. This role has identified I can work well under pressure in a busy office environment and can easily communicate with different audiences.

I assumed the role of a research assistant for the Radiological Sciences team headed by Professor Dorothy Auer, conducting an experiment into tensor imaging of paediatric optic pathway gliomas for functional outcome prediction. Moreover, as part of my degree, I conducted my own investigation into the normative variation of optic nerve size in healthy children aged 6-18. I was responsible for recruitment for both studies, as well as the general logistics and running of the investigations. I gained experience working with healthy children as well as visually and cognitively-impaired children and their families. I have finalised the write up for both studies, including a systematic literature review and am in the process of submitting these for publication.

I worked as a front of house assistant behind reception at the University of Nottingham sports centres, helping members book courts, pitches and fitness classes. I also trained as a sports assistant and helped clean and set up sports areas and ensured the safety and enjoyment of visitors. I was trained in the use of LEGEND online system and helped with the day-to-day running of the centres .

My duties include dealing with Careline clients, their families, Council tenants and contractors either over the phone, via email and face to face and often involving highly emotive issues. The role includes 24 hour Council emergency calls so one never knew what to expect when the phone rang and I have dealt with a diverse range of incidents from lost dogs to emergency flood warnings. I also write reports, issue referrals and input information onto databases. In addition, I was selected and trained as a Mobile Support Officer and have engaged in visits to perspective clients and to the occupants of Council owned housing schemes around the Tendring area.

Clacton-On-Sea

I am contracted over the summer to ensure the safety of visitors to Clacton-on-sea beach and enforce the local council’s bylaws. I have been trained in first aid in the work place and am qualified to conduct rescues via jet ski or rescue boat. This role has meant I have been involved in many emergency situations, from near drownings to attempted suicides and I have liaised with most emergency services. Moreover, this role involves working with the public and being a ‘face to face’ representative of Tendring District Council, I continuously work to improve my professional manner and understand the importance of engaging with clients in a friendly but professional way and always with a smile.

I worked as a personal assistant, caring for clients who suffered from dementia. I helped service users retain their independence by offering support and personal care within their own homes. My role involved personal care duties, household chores, helping service users with mobility problems including incontinence and offering companionship. This was a challenging yet rewarding job that I undertook while completing my second year university. It improved my communication skills and made me a more compassionate, caring person.
