As a consultant and assistant director at the University of Michigan's Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT), much of my programming focuses on enhancing student engagement through practices grounded in the science of learning and student motivation. No matter the teaching and learning topic, I believe there are important intersections with equity and accessibility to surface and discuss. In consultations, I thrive on “getting under the hood” of constructive student feedback and challenges shared by instructors to uncover underlying goals, motivations, and assumptions and generating pathways forward tailored to this information. I have a Ph.D. in Political Science from Emory University and, as opportunities arise, I teaches courses on American and comparative politics, U.S. policy-making, and the judiciary. These academic and teaching experiences bolster my commitment to faculty development around civic education and equipping students to participate in democracy and civic life.
