The presence of a scribe enables a physician to focus on patient care rather than clerical responsibilities, improving the efficiency of the practice. As Chief Scribe, I trained new staff in documentation practices, supervised additional scribes, and coordinated with Scribe America management regarding the needs of the practice. Given my aspirations in the field of public health, I have valued the opportunity to be involved in skin cancer prevention, screening, and treatment.

The ReThink Health project at The Dartmouth Institute is developing the Community Health Hub, a publicly available data and information-sharing platform. My role with ReThink Health has involved assisting with the development of the Community Health Hub by organizing and performing visualization of data provided by local community health partners on various topics, including breast, cervical, and colon cancer prevention strategies.

As an analyst for Informulary, I gather drug efficacy and safety data from clinical trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses found in FDA approval documents or published literature. This involves extensive utilization of spreadsheets and other methods of organizing and managing considerable amounts of data. Through this process, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of FDA drug approval.

This internship provided an opportunity to conduct research for my senior thesis. My thesis focuses on defining a natural microbiota of Caenorhabditis elegans as part of an effort to determine the appropriateness of this organism as a model system for microbiome research. During my summer internship, I worked to develop the methods required to pursue this topic. These methods will be implemented, and the topic expanded, over the course of my senior year at Princeton.
