I was responsible for managing the Gary Player and Ian Player Archives including materials from both men's successful respective careers with materials ranging from the early 20th century to today. I organized, researched, preserved, and digitized collection items. I also processed reference requests for media and retrieved materials for use in-house.I assisted with content creation for media projects including social media, web, and e-newsletter articles, drawing on archival holdings. I also responded to requests for information, images, video, or memorabilia. I managed loan requests and oversaw incoming and outgoing loans of artifacts and other archival materials. -Wrote and implemented a collections management policy.-Instituted use of a collections management database to catalog and track all archival holdings. -Drafted an emergency preparedness and response plan.-Curated a blog based on archival materials and projects.-Trained and supervised a part-time employee-Recruited and supervised undergraduate interns for both archives and media departments.

I was responsible for the archival collection of the museum, grant writing, the Honors and Memorials Program, volunteers, intern recruitment, the online gift shop, and other administrative tasks. I wrote 3 grants that were successfully funded. I recruited, trained, scheduled, and supervised volunteers of all ages and was the liaison with local colleges and student projects.I researched, designed, and installed exhibits. I handled collections management tasks such as accessions, deaccessions, collections care, and cataloging. I also assisted with marketing, especially social media marketing, as well as fundraising, and event planning, staging the first edition of two new events that continue successfully today.

I organized and cataloged the Bellamy Mansion's archival collections, created a finding aid for the institutional collection and provided improved storage for preservation. I also managed new accessions, loans, and other incoming and outgoing documentation. I wrote newsletter articles on research, new acquisitions, and exhibits and I researched requests for information on items in the archives.

I assisted the University archivist with a variety of activities. I responded to research and reference requests using the archival materials to research and find answers to users' questions, scanning and digitizing materials to share with users. I also assisted in the installation of an in-house exhibit about the university's history, helping to locate, prepare, transport, and place archival materials as well as artifacts into display cases. I also assisted in researching and writing labels for the exhibit. Additionally, I shelved books, helped with quick accessioning of incoming items and creating proper storage. I monitored temperature and relative humidity in archival storage and kept track of statistics related to in house use of archival materials. Other projects included the organizing and preparation of shipment of duplicate publications to the North Carolina Publishing Clearinghouse and the creation of a preservation priority database which catalogs items in need of more appropriate storage and preservation. I also researched, designed, fabricated, and installed an exhibit using items from University Archives and the Honors College on the history of the honors program at UNCW.

I conducted research for a possible new exhibit about women in Wilmington. I assessed the collection via the collections software program Re:Discovery to determine what possibilities exist for the exhibit, and carried out research to learn more about the history of women's lives in the Cape Fear region and what stories could be told. I also assisted with other collections initiatives as needed, such as finding objects for and writing Facebook posts which showcase the diversity of the museum's collections and provide the public with glimpses of Cape Fear history. Additionally, I volunteered at special events including StormFest, a family learning opportunity at which I co-directed an activity for young children to learn about clouds and the process of rain.

I researched and wrote docent guides for the historic homes on the Azalea Festival Home Tour. The research involved using both historical primary sources as well as interviewing the current homeowners to learn about any special features or recent restorations. Additionally I wrote a short article for the Foundation's newsletter, The News, about a neighborhood that was in the process of completing a National Register District nomination. My other tasks included assisting the director with planning for events, such as board meetings, board retreats, committee meetings, by preparing meeting materials and PowerPoint presentations and writing press releases. I also received and made calls regarding scheduling student groups for the Tar Heels Go Walking Program. Finally, I planned and prepared for National Preservation Month (May) by soliciting nominations for Preservation Awards, given to excellent restoration, adaptive reuse, or other preservation projects, and the Most Threatened Historic Places List, released annually to draw attention to sites at risk of neglect or demolition. I organized nominations as they came in and prepared them for consideration by the committees. I prepared PowerPoint presentations on the award winners for use at the annual awards ceremony and prepared press releases and media packets on the Most Threatened Places List for use by the press upon announcement of the list.
