After receiving her Masters in Dance, Beth became quickly known for her bold and innovative performances, many of which took place in unexpected public places and all of which had something to say about community. As both a regional and international arts educator & lecturer, she advocated for students’ development of artistic citizenship. This expertise led to Beth’s development of an award-winning art & events website for the region, solidifying her reputation as a community arts advocate. By 2008, Beth had parlayed these skills into a period of tremendous creativity and growth. She helped to start -- and then ride -- a wave of high-profile and influential projects that put SW Virginia on the map, from opening a new arts space, to helming an annual craft & makers fair , even inventing an on-the-road performance art company to showcase the region’s talents. All of these projects are on-going and have taken on a life of their own, most notably her well known stilt walking troupe in which she still performs. In 2015, Beth was integral in the conception, design and ongoing management of the AURORA, an historic building renovation that houses 28 live/work apartments for creatives, 9 studios, an aerial/dance studio, fine arts gallery, classrooms and event space. Simultaneously she launched Good Times Event Co., an event company under the umbrella of her own design productive that focuses on socially responsible and local events including handmade craft bazaars, seasonal urban homesteading & gardening fairs and open-air flea markets.Thanks to her widely known energy and passion, Beth serves on several regional councils and boards, and has embraced her role as a catalyst for change. Her rare ability to focus many disparate disciplines into well-forged initiatives has earned her a very visible platform at the crossroads of arts, activism and community. She resides proudly in Roanoke, Virginia.
