The SATs were a breeze for my autistic daughter. She had her pick of post-secondary options. We assured her that she would “find her people” in college and that her anxieties about fitting in would disappear there.WE WERE SO WRONG! Although she was academically capable, she wasn’t READY for college. We had NO IDEA that academic success would not be enough on its own. Providing the support she needed was exhausting. On-campus supports were not robust.
