Fieldwork student in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), step-down unit, and orthopedic unit. Occupational therapy treatment was performed under the direction of a licenced occupational therapist. People with diagnoses such as acute hypoxic respiratory failure (AHRF), COPD exacerbation, lymphomia, acute renal failure, lung transplant, pancreatitis, CVA (stroke), hospital-induced delirium, and diabetic ketoacidosis were treated in the MICU. People in the orthopedic unit were taught precautions and alternate ways of performing activities of daily living for procedures such as total knee or hip anthroplasty, a variety of spinal surgeries, or other orthopedic procedures.

Teach Equine Assisted Activities to children ages 4-18 with and without disabilities to ride horses as a therapeutic activity. Riding activities were conducted in the morning, and on the ground skills were taught in the afternoon. Care was taken to educate all participants on disability awareness and promote acceptance. Activities such as leading their horse through an obstacle course with no lead rope as a team were used as a tool to teach teamwork and communication.

Also was able to mentor under three different PATH International Instructors (two Registered, one Advanced) to gain more than my 25 student teaching hours. This program had an Interactive Vaulting and Hippotherapy programs (PT, OT's, and volunteer SLP's.) This position was seasonal and only had a contact of six months. At the conclusion of the season we took around 15 riders to the state Special Olympics!
