As a connectional person, influencer, and difference-maker with grit and an entrepreneurial spirit, my diverse 30+-year career consists of continually and consistently driving success across public and private sectors, ranging from small business startups to large governmental organizations. Professional experience spans the verticals of politics, government, entrepreneurship, and business ownership, while board committee experience includes development and fundraising, finance, governance, and strategic planning.My experience also includes being the first woman to run the $3.5B Massachusetts Lottery, and this lottery has been recognized as the most successful one in the world. As the Secretary of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation for Governor Mitt Romney, key career accomplishments include the financial literacy program created under Governor Romney that won a national award and the development of the auto insurance reform platform that ultimately got passed. While serving under Governor Romney, my responsibilities encompassed the leadership of nine state agencies, including the Department of Banks, Insurance, Telecommunications and Energy, Professional Licensure, the State Racing Commission, Department of Weights and Measures, Energy Resources, and Department of Standards. These departments had $60M in operation budgets, generating $90M in state revenue.Additional high-profile political accomplishments including serving as Campaign Manager for Scott Brown during his first U.S. Senate campaign—a special election that stunned the state of Massachusetts as well as the entire country. I ran for state-wide office: the 2018 U.S. Senate race in Massachusetts; own a small business and have been involved in many startups; provide political commentary for the media, advise an early-stage company; and sit on think tanks and volunteer for numerous boards. A true believer in open and honest communication, my focus is always on the inherent value proposition of each and every project, using that quality as my guiding light throughout. As a leader, I’m inclusive yet decisive, humble yet firm. Inspired by the eight pillars of joy that are identified in “The Book of Joy,” I aspire to live by them in my daily life.
