Within my role as the Digital & Social Media Officer, I am primarily responsible for managing the organisation’s visibility online by developing and implementing their social media strategy. This role involves overseeing, planning and delivering content across different platforms and using scheduling tools such as Adobe, Later & SocialPilot to utilise my time effectively. In addition to this, I assist with internal communications and formulate a quarterly newsletter for both the charity and the enterprise, Thrive Group Wales. As this role is within the domestic abuse and violence against women sector, I use my prior knowledge and experience to provide a safe and accessible space online for any service users, survivors and/or supporters.

I briefly worked alongside New Pathways, creating and scheduling social media content for Instagram, Twitter & Facebook; The content centred around New Pathways’ specialist support services for adults and children who have been impacted by abuse etc. Through this role, I utilised a variety of platforms such as Canva, SocialPilot, Teams and Later as well as having close communication with the wider team to ensure that any relevant events and stories were being shared across the platforms. Using my prior volunteering and work experience, within this role I raised awareness and promoted the work of likeminded 3rd sector organisations.

For the duration of this internship, I connected with influencers, designed a communication/messaging plan as well as researching various brand partnerships for an upcoming PR box.The impact of this project was a greater exposure of PEEQUAL’s work across the UK in preparation for the upcoming festival season.

My role as a Project Assistant in Ty Seren hostel invited me to work with vulnerable young women and help get them into education, training and employment as well as equipping them with basic life skills such as cooking.This challenging yet rewarding job gave me a greater insight into a variety of areas including social housing, delicately dealing with trauma and abuse within families and relationships as well as creating a psychologically informed environment (PIE) for our service users.

As a project assistant working nights, my main responsibilities were to be on standby for emergencies, to monitor the project and keep it up and running as well as be there to hold support sessions for residents and offer advice should they need it throughout the night.
