Resigned so that I can run for Whitehall Borough Council.I am responsible to securing the integrity of in person voting for my Pittsburgh suburb neighborhood. This entails receiving the poll book from the country, hiring and supervising a board of election inspectors and clerks, assisting eligible voters to vote in their correct polling place, and returning paper ballots and computer tabulated results for our precinct to the county. I train before every election to best assist voters to cast their votes in accordance with Commonwealth of Pennsylvania law. Since November 2020, we use ESS DS200 computerized scanners to tabulate paper ballots cast on election day and the ESS Express Vote for ADA ballots. I am responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and closing the polls with the ESS equipment as well as the physical security of the entire voting process for our precinct.

I work on SLASH2, an open source Wide-Area-Network filesystem, under the National Science Foundation Data Exacell project. Within this role, I facilitate discussion between developers and undergraduate research assistants at the Advanced Research Computing Center of the University of Wyoming. We focus on documentation and improving security and network performance. SLASH2 is very powerful when distributing workloads with large bioinformatics datasets across XSEDE partner sites for Galaxy workflows TACC and PSC. I coauthored a Practice & Experience in Advanced Research Computing paper discussing this success: "Demonstrating Distributed Workflow Computing with a Federating Wide-Area File System."

I was a high performance computing specialist with a focus in scientific and statistical analysis applications as well as data visualization.

We deployed Edubuntu 100 desktops in schools in Southern Ghana in October 2012. Each school received training in networking, pc repair, the GNU/Linux command-line, and the Edubuntu desktop environment. Ongoing remote support and communications will be done through Computereach throughout the deployment lifecycle. Since initial deployment, we keep in touch remotely with Ghana sites and have shipped laptops. To our knowledge, this is the largest African school deployment of Ubuntu-based desktops since the Shuttleworth Foundation and we endeavor to flourish in the same spirit. It was my honor to be an invited panelist for to discuss deploying the Free Software Desktop globally at the annual conference of The Free Software Foundation, LibrePlanet 2013.

I was IT manager to two direct reports and many contractors in a SaaS LAMP environment. During this time, I facilitated all aspects of the Pittsburgh, PA to the Chicago headquarters relocation including bare-metal to virtualization migrations. My role was engaged in the technical aspects of the customer experience, including pre-sales engineering, database migrations, deployment, software releases, backups, and on-going support.

I provided visionary leadership and day to day management of a user group based in Pittsburgh, PA. My role would rate between Chair, Vice Chair (PR), Secretary, Treasurer, and Member at Large. In addition, I was a system administrator, web team manager, and events network engineer. During this time I coordinated over 100 events such as educational programs, install fests, social events, planning committees, and board business meetings. Under my leadership, we overhauled our bylaws which are often imitated in other user groups.

I was a system administrator for some of the most brilliant computer scientists in the world with a focus on the GNU/Linux desktop. There, I transitioned legacy UNIX servers, mostly SGI Irix, to Red Hat Linux. It was my responsibility to build and maintain Carnegie Mellon's first Linux desktop lab using Fedora Linux. I was IT support for a walk-in help desk and computer lab. After answering questions about how to check email, I wrote a how-to hand-out. Here I learned printer maintenance, hardware repair, operating system installation, and the basics of LAN networking.
