Manage and oversee all financial operations for Project Adventure, an educational nonprofit. During my tenure as CFO, Project Adventure’s finances have stabilized and turned net positive. Develop annual, quarterly, and monthly budgets. Responsible for short-term and long-term cash flow and management. Provide guidance and operational support to all departments on strategy, contracts, insurance and risk management, vendor relationships, marketing, pricing, sales, and human resources. Have final responsibility for annual audit, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, banking, and debt management. Experienced in direct supervision of accounting, marketing, client services/sales, development, and administrative staff. Responsible for all reporting of financial statements and communication with Board of Directors, staff, and other stakeholders. Attend all board meetings and serve on Board Finance (including Investment Sub-Committee), Development, and Strategy Committees. I have served as Board Clerk and was one of two staff members on the multi-year Board Strategic Planning Committee to develop a long-term sustainable vision and plan for Project Adventure.Identify and respond to IT needs and opportunities including successful switch to a more robust email system, new software and equipment purchases, and technology training. Manage the development and use of a customized CRM system which significantly improves PA’s ability to track and strategically manage earned revenue and program delivery to clients, schools, and youth agencies.

Planned and delivered all aspects of fundraising activities including Annual Fund, Annual Evening Gala, and Major Gifts Appeal. Exceeded 2012 Annual Fund goal by over 25%, met goal in 2013 and 2011. Coordinated and directed PA’s Vision for 2020 introducing a new online Adventure learning resource, PA Connect, a “freemium” web portal with online videos, trainings, written materials, and online books. Created pipeline of grant opportunities and wrote successful grants for up to $50,000.

Researched, analyzed, and synthesized the competitive landscape of outdoor programming for youth as part of AMC Vision 2020 strategic goal of reaching more youth. Participated in leadership team retreats for development and identification of new program models, ideas, and strategies.

Facilitated low and high ropes day programs for student groups to develop their community and team-building.

Successfully designed and taught curriculum, lesson plans, and activities for advanced science and math in small personalized classes where nearly 70% of students had a learning difference. Maintained commitment to productive and constructive relationships and effective communication with students, faculty, and staff. Led challenging 12th grade overnight orientation canoe trip and advised 5-6 12th grade students annually. Developed and supervised daily after school high ropes course climbing program. Established positive relationships with students and fostered a safe environment for learning and teamwork. Received multiple “Staff and Teacher Appreciation Awards.”

Guided month-long wilderness trips for groups of high school students in Australia, Fiji, Europe, British Columbia, and the Virgin Islands. Managed trip budgets, safety, international travel schedules, interpersonal relationships, and wilderness concerns.

Taught 7th-9th grade math while nurturing personal relationships with students, connecting to practical experience, and fostering personal and social responsibility. Cared for students as co-primary houseparent. Planned 9th grade activities including academic trip to Florida.

Coordinated weeklong experiential and environmental education programs for middle school students in a residential setting. Planned classes based on each school’s goals and curriculum, and conducted off-site information sessions for parents and students. Trained and evaluated School Program Instructors in adventure, ecology, and outdoor skills and lessons. Supervised 11-person staff housing unit.
