I am a public health practitioner with a wide range of experience in and contribution to quantitative and qualitative research, program design and implementation, technical policy development and international health diplomacy. I have gained practical experience in the engagement of host Governments, donors, multilateral partners and implementing organizations in complex negotiations and coordination of funding and programs, and I have planned, implemented and evaluated health service and health systems interventions. I also participate in the technical planning groups for national surveillance and surveys in Malawi.I have provided consistent technical support to the Malawi Ministry of Health in their ART/PMTCT, VMMC, and HTC programs since 2006; including active participation in the core group for planning and implementing the then highly controversial Option B+ program, the success of which has resulted in Option B+ becoming a globally endorsed policy. I was also responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing CDC-Malawi’s four largest cooperative agreements, with an emphasis on ensuring that continuous quality improvement cycles are utilize at the health facility level. I have also provided South-to-South technical assistance to CDC and the Ministries of Health in Tanzania, Mozambique and South Sudan as they revised national HIV M&E tools and planned their transition to Option B+. I bring to my work the ability to synthesize and apply large amounts of technical, programmatic and political information to any given situation, as well as critical thinking, diplomacy, consistency, and humility. I make a point of creating positive working relationships with my team members; I maintain a positive outlook on life; and I always endeavor to maintain my sense of humor no matter the circumstances.
