I am a highly-driven individual, who likes to be both productive and effective. I am a logistical and organizational planner with extensive experience in managing people, from ages 13 to adult.I spend my work days performing multiple simultaneous roles of educator, entertainer, nurse, dad, mom, motivational speaker, office manager, event planner, grant writer, marketer, social media publisher, and more. I have a degree in pure math, and a secondary education teaching credential, along with a master's in Educational Leadership. However, I would argue that my most used "credentials" are unofficial and cannot be trained: Robotics mentor and Multitasking!Maker from over 19 years working as a public school math, engineering, robotics, and computer science teacher! I enjoy challenges that require active thinking, listening, and cooperative buy-in to solve. That lightbulb moment is the main reason any teacher lasts more than 4-5 years in public education, to be honest. As a teacher, you learn to reach students, not lecture at them. In order to facilitate learning, you must engage your students in the way that best suits them, and also that best suits the material you are trying to impart. I don't think of myself as "just a teacher" - I am a influencer of the next generation, and I have the world to mold to be better than it was before! I find myself getting involved in projects on both a personal and professional level when it is a fun AND meaningful process.My focus in my career is on helping people become better global citizens, understanding that in our world, nothing exists in a vacuum - that domino effects are a constant thing to be prepared for, mitigate, and adapt to. Problem and Project Based Learning and Experiential Learning are the key strategies I use when facilitating learning, as well as being willing to showcase how all subjects relate to each other and impact understanding and ability.When I have downtime, I enjoy reading, dancing, traveling, and making crafts or working as a crew member at my MakerSpace (https://www.obtainiumworks.net/).
