Electrical Technologist
Current- Execute concept, basic, and detail engineering and design packages—small power and lighting design, electrical distribution system design, switchgear, motor control centres (MCCs), auxiliary system design, system studies, setting calculations, incident investigation, etc.- Produce/update design drawings, design philosophies, equipment, and cable sizing, works information, cable schedules, construction bill of quantities, RFQs, equipment datasheets, installation and commissioning plan.- Assess client requirements to compile the scope of work definitions for new projects. This is done in close collaboration with the client.- CAD operator (using MicroStation software), assisting the team to ensure successful engineering development of draughting deliverables.- Drive the engineering and design of modifications to solve existing plant operation problems.- Be responsible for fault level calculations, volt drop calculations, lighting level calculations, and equipment sizing for a project.- Project execution and support during the detail design and construction phases and working closely with other engineering disciplines.- Perform various software tools and calculations from the first principle.- Compare procurement costs against the budget and provide feedback for estimating.- Working with the respective project team and the Project Services Department, review the tenders or quotes obtained from suppliers and participate in the selection process for the most suitable supplier (technical bid evaluations). - Procurement and commercial interfacing with proper contract management.- Attend FAT and provide the vendor’s test documentation input.- Construction and commissioning support and work closely with other engineering disciplines.- Supervising, guiding, and managing budgets, schedules, and safety on electrical engineering projects, as well as contract management.- Conduct presentations for the client design review process and facilitate the lead role.
