CJ Logistics America is a subsidiary of publicly traded CJ Logistics, which is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The company was formerly known as DSC Logistics, Inc.

Early in my tenure, I contributed to the sale of family-owned DSC Logistics by overseeing sell-side diligence and integration of systems, benefits, insurance, and financial reporting. When the company suffered a cyber attack, I led recovery efforts and maintained business continuity.

I joined DCS Logistics as the Controller and led a team of 35 responsible for corporate accounting, payroll, tax, and risk management for what was at the time a $575 million business. In this role, I drove information technology initiatives that improved cash flow, increased accuracy, improved data integrity, and saved labor costs. I also reduced cash taxes by restructuring legal entities to unlock deferred tax assets.

I led a team of 30 responsible for corporate accounting, treasury and risk management, payroll, HR, tax, and legal at this $750 million privately held steel distributor. I oversaw all aspects of benefit plan administration, including pension fund investment management, plan design, legal compliance, and audit. In this diverse role, I remediated labor compliance risks, managed corporate litigation matters, and updated benefit plans. I also accelerated cash flow by automating the invoice process.

In this role, I led a team of 10 responsible for corporate accounting, payroll, benefits management, and tax compliance. I spearheaded the transition from a totally paper-based general ledger accounting process to adoption of Great Plains. I created the case for change, selected the software, defined requirements, oversaw testing, designed new controls, and trained the staff. This transformational project boosted accounting accuracy and decreased key-person risks.

I led a team of 8 responsible for financial reporting, payroll, budgeting, and costing functions at this $60 million privately held custom steel manufacturer. My big contribution was enabling operational and profit improvements by establishing the company’s first standard costing system, overhead burden rates, and periodic forecasting process, all of which enhanced visibility of manufacturing performance and profitability of various product offerings.
