Early in my career, I got fed up with all the time wasted clearing up miscommunication. Through research and practice, I created Navigating Challenging Dialogue® (NCD), a toolkit for building trust by developing self-awareness, emotional self-regulation, empathy, and curiosity–even when communication feels risky. NIYLP is dedicated to the mission of empower native and minority youth through the development of assets and prevention programming. This programming uses a combination of adventure education, experiential education and cultural competency development. NIYLP has the only SAMHSA Model Program for native youth (Project Venture). In 2008, NIYLP received foundational support to expand programming and implementation outside of New Mexico. Under the leadership of Executive Director, Mac Hall, I will be coordinating the expansion effort. The new national headquarters are based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
