Lead efforts in enterprise architecture, with interests in lots of other areas, including workforce development and strategic planning. Getting lots of use of that Six Sigma black belt and other tools to facilitate meetings and projects. And, I have learned to love purple! Go Wildcats!

I served as Chief Enterprise Architect and IT Portfolio Manager in the Office of Information Technology, working in the areas of IT strategic planning, enterprise architecture, business process analysis, and continuous process improvement.The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is an agency within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) which funds and provides program leadership in research, education, and extension programs to advance knowledge for agriculture, the environment, human health and well-being, and communities.I was proud to be part of the team, under the leadership of Sonny Ramaswamy, working on solving the wicked problem of how we feed 9 billion people in 2050. It was an honor to serve my country as a civil servant!

Strategic planning in information technology and academic programming. I got to work on such a variety of projects with some great people. The downside was not being able to remember what airport I was in. Still, a very fun gig and lots of airline miles.

Responsible for administrative and instructional information technology, as well as institutional research. We experienced some very tough budget years and I was always amazed that staff maintained a positive attitude and kept doing the heavy lifting. My favorite memories are of our student staff helping design "grandma's afghan" wireless network, our student web team winning a MnSCU IT development award, and the all-night "turn the library into a giant gaming center." All the popcorn and Halo gear was cleaned up by the time the library opened on Saturday morning.

Courses Taught (Classroom, Interactive Video, and Online) included:* Management Principles where 25-35 students used electronic mail, the Internet, and course management software (WebCT and Desire2Learn)* Introduction to Management Information Systems where 18-24 students used electronic mail, the Internet, and WebCT/D2L for tools in the courses.* Production and Operations Management, a senior-level course to 35-50 students (per semester) incorporating mathematical models in production and service settings. Students used e-mail, Microsoft Excel, and WebCT/D2L.I had developed a reputation for putting a lot of work on students and many exceeded my expectations. It was a delight to get to know them and see them learn and grow knowing they'd go far. And especially the OTA students who took night classes after working all day and getting the kids some dinner before getting to class, they taught me a thing or two about hard work and perseverance.

Provided leadership, general supervision, administration and evaluation for a regional faculty development and instructional technology support center serving ten higher education institutions comprising of sixteen campuses. This was such a fun adventure ... great people, great vision, and great progress!

Provided instructional design for the development of multimedia lessons and modules and interactive classes in support of on-campus and distance education courses. Served on, leading when appropriate, a multimedia development team in the production of multimedia materials. Led the selection, management and support of the course management system. Developed and taught seminars and workshops about methods for including technology in instruction. I got to work with some really dedicated people who knew how to stretch a technology buck and were willing take some risks.

Four different positions as technology use exploded at the University. Started as a Fortran consultant cleaning up spaghetti code of talented chemists and physicists, co-led a conversion project moving all academic computer users in the ND Higher Education Computer Network to a new timesharing system, managed the academic users services team, worked with university and state-wide teams to bring the Internet to every county seat (when all the vendors said it wasn't economically viable), to develop LAN standards, and to revise position series to recognize IT support is bigger than programmer/analysts series. NDSU was the BEST place to really start my career and one of the most collaborative environments I ever worked. We didn't know it couldn't be done ... so we just did it!
