As a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist, I make improving the quality of life of our residents a top priority. To achieve that goal, available resources and tools must be used to their fullest potential. I have the ability to recognize and understand diseases and conditions which commonly occur in the senior population. I identify medication-related problems that can cause, aggravate, or contribute to common geriatric problems.As the consultant pharmacist I accomplish the following:• Identify and reduce medicated-related problems, such as side effects and drug interactions• Eliminate unnecessary medications• Provide comprehensive consultation that provides a thorough, one-on-one review of the residents’ medications -- prescription, over-the-counter, herbal, and nutritional.• Ensure that the residents’ medications are the most appropriate, the safest possible, the most effective, and are used correctly• Identify, resolve, and prevent medication-related problems.I evaluate the overall picture of how the residents’ medications are affecting his/her quality of life. This can make a real difference for the resident and his/her family. I consistently maintain a great working atmosphere and continue to strive for professional excellence and total customer satisfaction.
