• Hired as the first staff member on the CDP Development team focused on obtaining grant and contract funding from the U.S. government to support CDP's global work running the world's largest voluntary disclosure system that helps 25,000+ investors, companies, cities, states and regions in over 100 countries to understand, manage, and act to improve their climate and nature impacts.• Lead grant management processes for CDP's first grant from the U.S. government, through which we are receiving ~$3.8 million in funds over 5-years as a subcontractor on a USAID cooperative agreement to address deforestation in Southeast Asia and Latin America. Worked with CDP's legal, program, and finance staff in the U.S., U.K., Brazil, and Indonesia to establish and finalize the grant budget, work plan, Monitoring and Evaluation plan, contract, internal compliance, financial, processes, and more.• Prospect and lead grant application processes for grants from U.S. federal agencies like USAID, DOS, EPA, DOC, and others (including in consortium), as well as from US-based multilateral funders (e.g., GEF). Support on fundraising from other key governments, such as the U.K.• Lead funding-related relationship-building with government, multilateral institution, consultant, and NGO contacts, to build strong consortia for funding proposals.• Lead grant management and proposal processes for large foundations as needed, including leading narrative/financial reporting on a ~$475K grant from the Walmart Foundation for CDP Forest's work and spearheading the successful proposal submission and grant management processes for a significant ($1,350,000) grant renewal request.• Research and write overviews of the U.S. and Canadian government grant giving streams and priorities to identify the best potential funding opportunities for CDP and craft fundraising strategies in areas such as Forests, Water Security, Oceans, Nature, Climate, and more.

• Led and directly managed a team of three grant writers to annually raise $1.5 to $2 million in private foundation and corporate grant funding and $5 to $10 million in government grant funding for a criminal justice nonprofit with a $35+ million annual budget (70% of which consisted of grant revenue) and 30+ programs in prisons, jails, and five offices in New York.• Created and enacted procedures to increase my team’s effectiveness and preserve institutional knowledge, including regarding: identifying and securing new grant sources; maintaining and building strong relationships with funders through a portfolio system; collaborating with internal teams to obtain funding and manage grants and funder relationships; and utilizing Salesforce to generate and use data to assess fundraising successes and needs.• Worked with executive, program, and fiscal teams to: identify funding needs; create and execute plans to obtain new funding to fill gaps in over 10 different program units; and establish Key Performance Indicators for my team. Ensured fundraising and KPI goals were met.• Continued to fulfill all of the below-listed grant writing duties, including by submitting 5-10 government and foundation grant proposals and reports each month.

• Wrote grants to raise over $20 million in grant funding, including over $7 million for new or expanded projects or from new funders, during my tenure. • Coordinated and completed the application process for 100+ grants, working closely with dozens of executive, director, budget, analytics, HR, and program staff to craft and complete competitive program plans, narratives, logic models, and budgets.• Wrote and edited engaging reports to private funders that showcased the success of funded programs using internal data, relevant research, budgets, and case studies.• Identified, researched, and solicited new funders to raise money in areas including: alternatives to incarceration, workforce development, healthcare access, substance use treatment, reentry support, youth development and family services, court advocacy, prison- and jail-based programming, restorative justice, trauma treatment, housing, and advocacy.• Maintained relationships and met with current and potential funders to: discuss funding applications and current grants; answer funder questions about grant applications and reports; and conduct site visits.• During the COVID-19 pandemic, worked with a team of 2-3 grant writers to spearhead emergency response institutional and government fundraising, collectively raising over $3 million.• Supported the Communications Dept. with writing projects and strategy-building, and led social media campaigns, including live tweeting our annual fundraising event in 2019 and building, growing, and, for approximately one year, managing our LinkedIn presence.
