Betsy is an internationally recognized expert in philanthropy. She co-founded Strategic Philanthropy, Ltd., in 2000 and serves as the company’s President. Betsy brings to each client engagement the experience garnered over close to 30 years of working with families around their charitable giving and managing and consulting to nonprofits.With an MBA in International Business from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and significant client work outside the US, Betsy brings a deep understanding of the global philanthropic landscape and a particular interest in advancing human and civil rights and environmental sustainability to every client engagement. Betsy is a prolific writer and speaker; she has authored pieces for the Journal of Practical Estate Planning, Alliance Magazine, STEP Journal (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), among others. Recently, she contributed to Cross-Border Giving: a Legal and Practical Guide, published by CAF America. She is has been quoted in the Chicago Tribune, Crain’s, New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal. Betsy has been a featured speaker events including: Chicago Estate Planning Council, Exponent Philanthropy, the Council on Foundations—Family Philanthropy Conference, Greater North Shore Estate and Financial Planning Council, and the Southeast Family Office Forum. She has participated in webinars on philanthropy for CELESQ, National Center for Family Philanthropy, Family Office Metrics, and Fidelity Charitable.Betsy is also one of a select group of professionals designated as a National Center for Family Philanthropy Trained Consultant and a member of numerous industry organizations including: National Network of Consultants to Grantmakers, Advisors in Philanthropy and the Council on Foundations Philanthropic Advisor Network. She is a registered Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) and the only U.S. member on STEP’s Philanthropy Committee. Betsy also serves as a Trustee at Adler University.
