Saludos! My name is Betsy Rivera. Welcome to my LinkedIn page. I'm a bilingual professional, fostering empathy, compassion, and cultural responsiveness in and out of the workplace. I've worked closely with schools, libraries, colleges/universities, and nonprofits, ranging from interactions with young children to mid-career adults. I've invested in overseas travel, which had a profound effect on my personal and professional lives. After graduating from Pace University, I embarked on a journey to Panamá. No work contract, no place to stay; solely adventure, faith, and perseverance. I secured a position as a Corporate English Instructor and became a local volunteer/advocate for two NGOs, which empower disadvantaged women and children living with cancer. Upon returning to the United States, I enrolled in a field intensive UN Study Program in Switzerland. I engaged with global change makers at the Palais des Nations and was determined to play a role in improving conditions for diverse communities, both on a domestic level and an international scale. I then immersed in marketing, fundraising, event planning, and advocacy efforts with the UN Association. As a result, I've acquired intercultural, analytical, and problem-solving skills from my local and global experiences. While working at buildOn, I trained staff, organized large-scale events, managed a successful youth empowerment program, guided a youth leadership board, as well as, recruited, motivated, and prepared students to build schools in Nepal, Haiti, and Nicaragua. Currently, I am learning more about educational innovation and reform, dispersing resources for underserved communities, and collaborating with parents/guardians in the NYC area. I'm interested in building new relationships, learning additional skills, as well as, advancing education, equity, and empowerment in the states and worldwide. Let's connect! Have an inspiring day.
