Betsy is a sustainability expert blending architecture, construction and real estate to help clients design their green life. As a licensed architect, realtor, and contractor she believes green homes and resilient communities can celebrate daily life with direct environmental, economic and social benefits. She's devoted to sustainable real estate market transformation in and around Nashville, TN.In the Middle Tennessee region since 1995, Betsy returned to Nashville after graduating from University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Architecture and Minor in Business Administration. She immersed herself in the design scene working at the Nashville Civic Design Center, Smith Gee Studio and Manuel Zeitlin Architects. Wanting to influence the built environment more directly, she got her real estate license to join the front lines of 'the market' and provide value-added services to her clients. In August of 2019, together with her husband Austin Littrell, she started Maypop Building Workshop, a budding design-build company in the pursuit of sustainable, design-driven construction and real estate development in Nashville, TN. Inspired by Tennessee's state wildflower, nicknamed the 'maypop', they're working to be aggressively resilient, ecologically restorative, and generally delightful. Betsy is Board President of GROW Enrichment, a nonprofit developing Nashville's first public food forest, community and resilience at Two Rivers Park. She is on the steering committee for South Nashville Action People and on the Building Healthy Places committee with Urban Land Institute.
