Continued to build upon skills acquired in Summer 2023 to include artifact illustration and photography. Expanded into more intricate illustrations such as artifacts with multiple materials, delicate carvings and inscriptions, and various perspectives.

Acquired knowledge in such conservation practices as polyethylene glycol treatment, chelation, and desalination. Worked closely with senior conservators to carry out conservation plans for iron artifacts. Assisted in the examination and upkeep of cannons on loan to multiple educational institutions throughout the state while connecting with inquiring visitors about conservation processes. Promoted the laboratory’s mission of education and outreach through an open house at the Museum of the Albemarle, staff-led laboratory tours, and two open house events. Gained familiarity with custom access databases.

Maintained a tidy and organized sales floor to streamline customer experience while in the shop. Communicated thoroughly with suppliers such as Giant, Shimano, and QBP to maintain a steady flow of inventory, both in parts and in bicycles. Handled sensitive financial documents under direct supervision while preserving excellent financial and performance standings with suppliers.

Participated in the introductory education of proper field work methodologies. Studied precise strategies for cataloging artifacts and features of a site. Learned correct techniques for operating ground penetrating radar (GPR) to better view subterranean structures. Created and managed an Instagram page to inform members of the public of progress made on the site, amassing approximately 100 followers within two months and maintaining an engagement rate of 30+ people per post.
