Betterman Simidi Musasia is a social impact leader with over 20 years of experience working on the continent of Africa. In 2015, after becoming extremely tired of seeing all the trash in Kenyan urban neighbourhoods and hearing the authorities fake promises to clear the mess, he sold his trucking business to establish Clean Up Kenya. Today, the organization is a leading national sustainable public sanitation advocacy brand. In 2018 Betterman helped establish Litter-free Ghana and in 2019, Clean Up Uganda. In September 2020, Betterman stepped down as Clean Up Kenya's Chief Executive Officer and now serves as Founder and Patron. In 2022 Betterman was part of a team that designed and executed an international investigation into the secret trade of clothing waste from Europe to Kenya and unearthed that up to 200 forty-foot containers of clothing waste masquerading as second-hand clothing was brought into the country in 2021 from the EU and the UK. This investigation had press coverage from over 500 media outlets globally including from El Pais (Spain), Deutsche Welle (Germany), The East African (Kenya), NTV Kenya (Kenya), New York Post (US), Russia Today (Russia), VOA (US) The Times (India), Euronews (France), Channel News Asia (Singapore), Radio France International (France) and Le Temps (Switzerland), among others, as a result of media agency AFP picking up the story. This has since led to a review of Extended Producer Regulations for textiles in the EU.Professionally, Betterman is a public relations consultant and runs Bettermanpr Consultancy since 2007. He has consulted for organizations such as URTNA, Tapwak, LDS Charities and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, among others, overseeing projects in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, Tanzania and Ethiopia with work relations extending to other countries in Southern and Western Africa. Betterman is very interested in local and global affairs, including geopolitics. He has been a chairman of a public school since 2016. He is also passionate about issues of sanitation rights for the urban poor and frequently blogs about how these are exacerbated by government inaction and corporate greed. The highlight of his career is meeting with Mr. Peter Thomson, the then 71st President of the United Nations General Assembly in 2017 at a round-table meeting for a small group of leaders in Nairobi to discuss the oceans agenda. In 2020, he met with Kenya's Senate Speaker, Hon. Kenneth Lusaka to discuss plastic pollution in the country.​
