Bev founded LADR Landscape Architects in 1994 and, as sole Principal, inspired and mentored her team for the next 28 years. In 2021 she welcomed son Christopher as a second Principal. Together they provide leadership within the LADR studio, mentor interns, nurture existing relationships with community members, clients and colleagues, and build new relationships. They continuously look for meaningful ways to support reconciliation, and address climate adaptation, mitigation, and disaster resilience. A selection of current projects Bev is overseeing include: Te'tuxwtun Neighbourhood Master Plan, Alert Bay Town Square, Cowichan Secondary School Replacement (Advocacy Team), View Royal Constructed Wetlands & Salt Marsh, Shingle Point Community Project for Lyackson First Nation, Cowichan Secondary School Replacement (Advocacy Team), and various Vancouver Island housing developments that respond to challenges such as low/no income, abusive relationships, physical/mental disability and illness and homelessness. Recently completed projects Bev was the Principal in Charge for include Cowichan Hospice House, Duncan; Ironworks, Victoria; New Roads Therapeutic Garden, View Royal; Chemainus and Sooke public libraries; Salt Spring Commons, SSI; and multi-unit housing projects supported by Habitat for Humanity, BC Housing, the Greater Victoria Housing Society, CMHC and various levels of government.Bev is an experienced facilitator and public speaker, and frequently presents to elected officials, community/advisory groups, and the public at large. She is an appointed member of the Resilient Saanich Technical Committee, an active member of the CSLA Climate Action Committee, and co-author of the NRCan supported BC Resilience Pathways Report (addressing disaster and climate risk management for professionals). She recently served on the University of Guelph Landscape Architecture Accreditation Review Team, and the Esquimalt Design Review Committee (position non-renewable). Bev established the BCSLA 'Climate' open web page, is past chair of the BCSLA Climate Change Action Group, and past member of the BC Professional Associations Climate Change Working Group (PAAWG) and the University of Victoria Restoration Advisory Committee. She has been a guest critic for UBC SALA, Co-Chair of the City of Victoria's Advisory Design Panel, Chair of the City of Victoria's Parks, Recreation & Community Services Advisory Committee, Director of the BCSLA, juror for the CSLA's national awards program, and a mentor to numerous landscape architecture interns and designers.
