I am a journalist by training but an information gatherer out of never-ending curiosity. The two interests led to a career in association media and communications, with my most recent focus being on content strategy, development and web site migration. I started at AFCEA since 1984, beginning as an assistant editor, and I have led the association's transitions to desktop publishing, web site implementation, social media integration and responsive and integrated communications. In 2015, I led the strategy to launch a responsive design web site and to develop the content strategy, branding and messaging for the site. I was hands-on with the development, design, testing and launch of the site, which was implemented using in-house resources only. For more than 38 years, I oversaw elements of the publications, communications and marketing departments, including editorial, advertising and specialty publishing. I also ensured the integration of print and new media offerings association wide.I retired from AFCEA in January 2023, and am now consulting. Prior to my retirement, I oversaw the transition to the association's new web site, handling content migration and site set up within a Drupal CMS. I also supported the association's AMS project and provided content strategy and other special assignments in the context of the new web site. Prior to joining AFCEA, I worked for Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and took advantage of the location at Frederick, Maryland, airport to start working on my private pilot's license. I also worked at PRC before coming to SIGNAL.
