Started work at the engineering department in 1985 as designer first of traction components, then in cab and operator environment designing. The development of cabs, following similar trends in automotive and truck development, became a major sales and marketing feature of the competition between the major agriculture machinery manufacturers. Eventually the complexity and economics of the cab production made out-sourcing necessary. This needed the development of a completely new bill of materials and assembly breakdown structure including the necessary studies and negotiations with both the cab supplier and sub-suppliers of components. Co-ordination and negotiation skills being essential elements in setting up the successful transfer from CNH own production to an outside supplier. Intercontinental cab production start-ups also became part of the job; technical co-ordination between CNH Europe and sister plants in North and South America required travelling to Brazil and USA.
