I have been working as a training & development officer for almost 30 years, some of which was for the national electricity company in my home country of South Africa, where I concentrated on induction training and business development. I currently work for ASH Scotland, which is a health charity working across Scotland to reduce the harm and inequalities caused by tobacco. I have worked at ASH Scotland since 2008 where I initially focused on academically accredited training for specialist stop-smoking support to individuals and groups, and wider professional issues within the stop-smoking field. I've also delivered Continued Professional Development (CPD) training to the National Health Services (NHS) and community-based organisations across Scotland on subjects such as Smoking & Dementia, Tobacco & Cannabis, Raising the Issue of Smoking, Introduction to Stop-smoking support and Second-hand Smoke training in support of the Scottish Government's campaign to reduce children's exposure to second-hand smoke in the home from 11% to 6% by 2020. In addition, I created a trainer's pack of activities and resources around the topic of second-hand smoke for Early Years Centres to use in parent classes and parent seminars.Most recently, my projects have included creating and maintaining our ASH Scotland learning management system, including the design, creation and evaluation of digital learning content and insuring all content remains accurate and relevant. In addition to this, I am part of the panel who support and evaluate the Healthy Body, Healthy Mind project along with SAMH and Scottish Student Sport.
