Paul and Beverley Williams are artist/craftspeople at Williams Design Studio in 'downtown' Bethany, Ontario, Canada. They started out in 1969 doing small art/craft shows in Ontario and in 1974 went into business as partners in Williams Design Studio. Originally Beverley did handweaving, basketry, silk art and texile sculpture creating large wall murals for various public and private areas. Paul & Beverley met at Black Creek Pioneer Village in Toronto, Ont. in 1969 while being costumed interpreters 'Pioneers' from 1867. Paul worked in the harness shop and Beverley was a weaver/spinner in the various houses.They married in October 1971 at the Black Creek Village and began their adventures as full-time professional artists in 1974 in a small house in Whitby, Ontario. In January 1977, they moved to the delightful hamlet of Bethany, Ontario into an early Ontario general store in the middle of a raging snowstorm!It was not until 30 years later they found out that Paul's ancestors (John & Mary Sisson) had come to Bethany to settle in 1837 with 10 children and a great uncle had owned the very same building in which they now live.In 1969, Paul started out creating unique sculptured leather wall art, murals and masks and then moved into hammered metal art and fountains and garden art.Paul now works in metal sculpture as well as leather art often combines the two media into large art pieces for homes, offices, hotel lobbies and donor walls for government spaces and businesses.Beside their studio and gallery in Bethany, Ont. you can visit their SECRET GARDEN and see at least ten different water features, a variety of sculptured copper & brass fountains and unique hand made garden art. Children will enjoy trying to count our many frogs, fish and fairies among the flowers.

Annually I work with our group of artists and craftspeople to create the Rolling Hills Studio Tour in May on Mother's Day weekend. This is a free tour for visitors to drive around the Bethany, Cavan , Omemee & Pontypool areas to visit a variety of studios displaying pottery, jewellery, soap stone carving, watercolour paintings, mixed media art, photography, an Herbal farm handmade soaps, equine art, feather paintings, stained glass art, fountains, garden art and our SECRET GARDEN.
