They say everyone has a book in them – and I believe that’s true. But not everyone is able to get a book out of them – and that's where I come in. I can help you develop your ideas, structure your (non-fiction) book, coach you to produce a final draft, cheerlead you along the way and then edit the book for you. I can also help you structure and deliver a talk to promote your book. That's why I call myself a written and spoken word coach.Authors and speakers appreciate my calm, caring and supportive approach. I’m insightful, creative and intuitive but also organised, structured and analytical, which I’ve realised is an unusual combination. So how did I get here? I've had an amazing 40-year journey that has taken me full circle from the written to the spoken word and back again. I started my career in journalism as a staff writer on the music paper Sounds. I quickly made my name (as Betty Page) by coining the term the New Romantics after securing the first major mainstream interview with Spandau Ballet and championing bands such as Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and Soft Cell. Highlights of my 15-year stint as a music journalist include: features editor of Noise!, editor of Record Mirror and writer/sub-editor for the New Musical Express (NME). Check out some of my archived features on rocksbackpages.com. In 1993 I graduated to national newspapers, first as chief sub, then deputy editor of The Observer's Life magazine. After that I was assistant editor of the Sunday Telegraph Magazine and subsequently spent 10 years as a sub-editor, commissioning editor, columnist and feature writer at the Sunday Express. I returned to the Telegraph Media Group in 2010, commissioning and editing sponsored supplements and branded content across the titles but eventually departed in order to complete a coaching course.Shortly after I qualified as a coach, my career took an unexpected turn into the spoken word and in 2014 I joined the team at Ginger Leadership Communications as a trainer. Two years ago, I also started working as a developmental editor for The Right Book Company. I also work independently as a book mentor, helping people write business books. Whether they're written or spoken, I love words and always will…Specialties: Speech and writing coaching, general life coaching, sub-editing, copy editing, headline writing, commissioning, project management, proof reading, writing for websites, travel writing, general features for editorial and advertorial purposes, storytelling, story mining, public speaking training
