A lifelong artist, I specialize in watercolor painting, urban sketching, nature and illustrated journaling, mixed-media, drawing, poetry and short fiction. Have taught drawing, sketching and painting at North Cascades Institute, Tacoma Public Library, Tahoma Bird Alliance, MadArt, Village Artists and Craftsmen, Writers Jubilee. Installed, trained and managed integrated library systems in school libraries in 5 counties including installing and configuring networking hardware and software and workstations.

Highlights included participation in Project GAIN which connected six rural libraries and one Native American nation to the Internet - the first time that libraries allowed for public access to the internet. This project gained national recognition and our participation was featured in the Washington Post and Newsday.Obtained grant and implemented major renovation of library building to include a community room.Created the first literacy listservs in the world, Literacy and Learner: one for literacy tutors to discuss literacy issues and for learners to communicate with each other throughout the globe. Testified before committees in both the United States House and Senate on information technology and the role of public libraries in ensuring equity of access to information through digital information resources including access to the emerging internet. This testimony resulted in the passage of the Universal Service Act/e-Rate.
