What do I have in common with astronauts, airplane pilots, and race car drivers? We all have acute visual-spatial intelligence—meaning we have keen spatial judgment and the capacity to “visualize with the mind's eye.” As an interior design and occupancy planning professional, I have extraordinary perception of space, lines, and dimension, allowing me to tackle challenging projects to perpetuate innovative, functional, and efficient design solutions. I hold an Interior Design degree from Florida State University, ranked in the top 13 most admired U.S. programs by DesignIntelligence, and possess more than 20 years of diverse experience across every phase of commercial interior design. When I see an empty space, it spurs my imagination! I approach it as a blank canvas waiting to come alive in ways not easily conceived by end users.Like many interior design and space planning experts, I am detailed-oriented, and creativity is a core strength. What truly sets me apart is: • My unconventional thinking and visioning when it comes to space planning norms—inspiring me to develop unique layouts that support the ever-changing occupancy needs of a company. • My strong verbal and written communication skills—allowing me to simplify the complex, and present occupancy planning data and recommendations clearly and concisely to internal stakeholders, so they can make strategic business decisions like cost savings and expenditures. • My project management proficiency—honed through planning spaces as large as 20,000 square feet. Most recently, in response to Covid-19 and in conjunction with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention parameters, I played an integral role in a hybrid workspace assessment of safe space and seating for every space in TIAA’s U.S. office portfolio. As a project manager, I pride myself in being thorough, striving for few to no errors (accuracy means a lot to me!), and ensuring a smooth process.Speaking of pride, what I am most proud of in life is twofold: 1) my gutsy decision to become a full-time mom, smack dab in the middle of my career, and then making a successful comeback; and 2) overcoming the unimaginable diagnosis and treatment for a life-threatening illness and surviving that ordeal.
