- Developing RNA editing strategies for treatment of inherited retinal diseases - Directed protein evolution of polymerases for enhanced RNA biomanufacturing

Advisor: David R. Liu I led the development of mitochondrial base editing, a system that enables the first precise DNA base conversion within the mitochondrial genome of living cells. These base editors can be used to model disease-associated mtDNA mutations in animal and plant models for functional studies and screening of drug candidates. Mitochondrial base editors could potentially correct genetic point mutations associated with debilitating mitochondrial diseases including MELAS and MERRF.

Taught two semester of advanced organic chemistry courses (CHEM 27 and CHEM 30) to 56 Harvard Undergraduates. Awarded consecutive Certification of Distinction in Teaching (Spring 2017 and Fall 2017) – Q score of 4.5/5 from 54 respondents

Research associate under Tan Yen Nee in Institute of Materials Research and Engineering at A*STAR. In the Tan group, I worked on nanoparticle-based gene delivery methods for human keratinocytes.

Member of CSHL Undergraduate Research Program. Intern under Chris R. Vakoc at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Performed RNAi and flow cytometry to identify transcriptional regulators that contribute to therapeutic activity of bromodomain inhibition in acute myeloid leukemia.
