Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills: • Provides direct SFL-TAP (Soldier for Life Transition Assistance Program, formerly ACAP) services to over 370 transitioning military personnel, and their family members.• Instructs clients/students in groups teaching a variety of career transition skills and job training services that enable them to compete in the local and national labor market. • Conducts one-on-one employment and education counseling of transitioning clients/students… Show more Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills: • Provides direct SFL-TAP (Soldier for Life Transition Assistance Program, formerly ACAP) services to over 370 transitioning military personnel, and their family members.• Instructs clients/students in groups teaching a variety of career transition skills and job training services that enable them to compete in the local and national labor market. • Conducts one-on-one employment and education counseling of transitioning clients/students ensuring all available resources and material are available for a successful transition. • Tracks, monitors and motivates the progress of clients to increase their utilization of SFL-TAP Center services ensuring a smooth transition to civilian life. • Manages case notes and records them in each person’s file for their progress report, attendance, and class work evaluation ensuring each client/student has the required work to complete as mandated by the U.S. Congress Veterans Opportunity to Work Act (VOW) • Conducts orientation and intake of new clients/students who are required to complete a mandatory briefing and are given an overview of their expectations and end products. • Ensures client’s work-force skills are focused on their chosen career and employment ensures that they leave with a job/career to enter, have adequate living accommodations, and transportation.• Represents and supports SFL-TAP Center marketing initiatives in local employment events such as job fairs and employer days.• Proficient in teaching core classes Transition Overview and Military Occupational Skill (MOS) Crosswalk. • Accurately documents and applies client class attendance and all other SFL-TAP activities IAW Serco contract guidance.• Develops an effective Counselor-client relationship that encourages the client to return to the SFL-TAP Center for services.• Documents client contact efforts in client notes: how, when and why; and results.• Conducts timely and frequent queries to manage caseload.
